Transportation & Infrastructure
The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore is a human and economic tragedy that epitomizes the need for safe and secure infrastructure. Ahsan believes in continuously investing in our highways, roads, bridges, railways, aviation, and waterways to reinforce them against would-be threats and to avoid deterioration.
Ahsan will work in a bipartisan manner to secure ongoing funding for routine infrastructure improvements. He is also mindful of the environmental impact of transportation systems, especially on our waterways, and will collaborate with public and private-sector leaders to ensure that effective environmental protections are in place.
As an individual who took the Metro to work as a federal employee, Ahsan believes more collaboration and creative solutions are needed to solve the DMV’s Metro funding shortfall problem. If elected, Ahsan will aggressively but collaboratively work with his counterparts in Maryland and Washington, DC, to develop a long-term solution to make Metro economically self-sustaining, ideally without relying on federal funding.
